摘要: Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a rheumatoid disease leading to progressive ossification of the spinal column. Patients suffering from AS are highly susceptible unstable vertebral fractures and often require surgical stabilisation due long lever arms. Medical treatment these patients improved during last decades, but until now it unknown whether annual number changed years. Since count fracture an effective measure for efficacy injury prevention patient safety in patients, current recommendations activity have be revised accordingly. Data all with treated as inpatients between 01/01/1987 31/12/2008 were extracted Swedish National Hospital Discharge Registry (SNHDR). The data registry collected prospectively, recording inpatient admissions throughout Sweden. SNHDR uses codes diagnoses at discharge according versions International Classification Diseases (ICD-9 ICD-10). During years 1987 2008 17,764 inpatients; 724 fractures. cervical, thoracic lumbar increased (r = 0.94). Despite requiring care two decades. Possible explanations population growth, greater awareness fractures, diagnostics, emergency reducing fatalities, higher level receiving modern medical therapy. Obviously improvement did not reduce susceptibility Thus restrictive cannot defused, must critically improve safety.
