摘要: Abstract Objective: To determine the risk of testicular cancer in relation to undescended testis and its treatment based on recorded details maldescent, treatment, biopsy from case notes. Design: Cohort study. Setting: Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street, London. Subjects: 1075 boys with cryptorchidism treated by orchidopexy or hormones at hospital during 1951-64. Main outcome measures: Relative cohort compared men general population. Results: 12 cancers occurred 11 patients follow up mid-1990 (relative males cryptorchidism=7.5 (95% confidence interval 3.9 12.8)). The relative fell significantly beyond 15 years after but did not decrease younger age orchidopexy. Risk was raised testes that had samples removed risk=66.7 (23.9 143.3) a man population) greater these than taken (6.7 (2.7 13.5)). No reasons distinguishing clinical aspects later developed malignancies were evident histological abnormalities initial except one features dysgenesis. Conclusions: Biopsy seems be stronger factor any previously identified. trauma open may contribute substantially malignancy have been selected basis factors predictive mentioned Key messages increased are unclear determined 1951-64 population 7.5 much which sample those no identified
