摘要: In the late 1990s, Chinese government initiated some new programs and consolidated other existing of ecological restoration resource development in its forest sector, named them as “Priority Forestry Programs,” or PFPs. They include Natural Forest Protection Program (NFPP), Sloping Land Conversion (SLCP), Desertification Combating around Beijing Tianjin (DCBT), Wildlife Conservation Nature Reserve Development (WCNR). addition to improving environmental conditions, a frequently reiterated goal these PFPs is enhance income rural residents. Thus, question great interest is: How has implementing affected farmers’ poverty status? The objective this chapter address question, using fixed-effects model panel data from over 2,100 households ten counties Sichuan, Hebei, Shaanxi, Jiangxi Provinces. empirical evidence indicates that their effects are mixed. impacts SLCP, NFPP, DCBT significantly positive, whereas impact WCNR negative SBDP little effect on household income. Furthermore, show substantial variations different counties. Also, land for home gardening, labor off-farm employment, technical institutional changes play major roles, implying more attention should be directed increasing cash crops, training extension.
