摘要: Virgin coconut oil, a relative newcomer in the fats and oil market, is fast becoming valuable next to virgin olive oil. Therefore, it important establish reliable purity criteria assure its premium quality. A study was carried out assess effectiveness of Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy detecting adulteration with palm kernel olein as potential adulterant. Multibounce attenuated total reflectance measurements were made on pure adulterated samples Detection up 1% possible. Discriminant analysis using 10 principal components able classify basis their spectra. partial least square calibration demonstrated good linear regression actual value against that predicted by FTIR coefficient determination (R2) 0.9875 root mean error cross validation 1.70. also equally effective designing distinct from other vegetable oils.
