Clinical stabilisation with lacosamide of mood disorder comorbid with PTSD and fronto-temporal epilepsy.

摘要: Background and aim of the work . Mood disorders are often complicated by comorbidity with epilepsy. Anxiety personality may worsen prognosis treatment outcome. Lacosamide has been recently introduced as adjunctive for partial Its mechanism consists selective slow inactivation voltage-gated sodium channels, thus promoting an extended stabilisation cell membranes. Antiepileptic drugs have largely used since 1950s in psychiatry mood stabilisers due to their membrane stabilising anti-kindling effects. Like lithium, antiepileptic first choice Bipolar Cyclothymic Disorders. Methods We tested efficacy most recent medication, lacosamide, a patient simultaneously occurring cyclothymic disorder, severe post-traumatic stress fronto-temporal was titrated up 200 mg/day, added on ongoing 750 mg/day 15 oral aripiprazole then switched 400 mg/month long-acting aripiprazole, 2 N -desmethyldiazepam. Results observed EEG normalisation one month later, along reduced anxiety additive effect lithium-induced fluctuations second week lacosamide addition. Conclusions Further studies this drug bipolar spectrum warranted.
