摘要: Prostate and breast cancer are the two cancers with highest incidence in men women, respectively. Here, we focus on known biology of acquired resistance to antihormone therapy prostate compare laboratory clinical similarities evolution disease. Laboratory studies observations demonstrate that cell selection pathways occur during antihormonal therapy. Following sex steroid deprivation, both models show an initial increased sensitivity growth potential steroids. Subsequently, cells either become dependent upon treatment or grow spontaneously absence hormones. Paradoxically, physiologic steroids now kill a proportion selected, but vulnerable, resistant tumor cells. The receptor complex triggers apoptosis. We draw parallels between deprivation. Clinical patient trials confirm veracity studies. consider therapeutic strategies increase response rates metastatic disease can subsequently be applied as preemptive salvage adjuvant goal future advances is enhance deploy safe strategy earlier plan save lives. introduction simple evidence-based enhanced global healthcare has control recurrence, reduce hospitalization, costs maintain healthier population contributes society.
