摘要: An investigation of the errors arising in pulsed-wire anemometer measurements Reynolds stresses turbulent flows is described. Attention concentrated first on a theoretical approach, which an idealized yaw response and assumed form for joint velocity probability-density distribution are used to determine of, principally, UV 3 when probe like ordinary single slanted hot wire. Actual range shear then compared with crossed-hot-wire results theoretically simulated obtained from calculations crossed-wire data. It shown that whilst lateral intensity stress inevitably rather unsatisfactory regions low (less than lo%, say) they agree reasonably well where intensities higher, but do not exceed those sensible corrections cross-wire data possible (up to, say, 30 yo). In this medium-intensity range, however, found be critically dependent finite limit pulsed wire's response; it seems acceptable can only made if exceeds about 75". Beyond (which usually much higher UV) become less exact nature invariably decrease increasing intensity. They can, care, as 15 yo. concluded accuracy similar flows. Such certainly adequate many practical purposes high-intensity hot-wire techniques useless.
