摘要: [1] Eddies are an important part of the current system that hugs coasts British Columbia and Alaska. The ability “spectral nudging” to improve eddy statistics determined from model simulations this is investigated. Spectral nudging differs standard in only specified frequency wave number bands simulated potential temperature salinity fields nudged toward observed climatology. Therefore field can develop evolve with time while prevented drifting far Parallel Ocean Program (POP) used do simulations, 0.25° horizontal resolution 23 vertical levels. deviation skewness for sea surface height compared those estimated ten years TOPEX/Poseidon altimetry observations. This comparison shows spectral allows simulate significantly more accuracy than when not used.
