Stereotactic Radiosurgery for Neurosurgical Patients: A Historical Review and Current Perspectives.

摘要: Today, stereotactic radiosurgery is an effective therapy for a variety of intracranial pathology that were treated solely with open neurosurgery in the past. The technique was developed from combination therapeutic radiation and devices precise localization targets. Although originally performed as partnership between neurosurgeons oncologists, this has weakened recent years, some procedures being without neurosurgeons. At same time, across United States Canada have found their training during residency inadequate. neurosurgeons, directors, department chairs agree education exposure could be improved, limited number resources exist kind education. This review describes history radiosurgery, assesses state its use today, provides recommendations improvement neurosurgical future.
