Integrating Quality Improvement and Residency Education: Insights From the AIAMC National Initiative About the Roles of the Designated Institutional Official and Program Director

摘要: Abstract Active engagement of both the designated institutional official (DIO) and program director (PD) is essential to implement any change in graduate medical education (GME). Strategies that are established by Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or other entities are, end, effective only as implemented at individual level. The interpretation national standards guidelines, specific adaptation vagaries institutions programs, can lead significant variability implementation potentially outcomes. Variability occurs between programs within same institution some specialty different institutions. National Initiative, sponsored Alliance Independent Academic Centers, was launched 2007 demonstrate effectiveness GME a key driver improve quality, patient safety, cost-effectiveness care.
