This paper reports on part of a larger study and outlines Registered Nurses’ Midwives’ perceptions of, satisfaction with, trained health care assistants in regional hospital setting the Republic Ireland. Background. An increased reliance upon clinical has highlighted need to consider how staff patients perceive assistant role. Findings. Nurses were satisfied with work undertaken by considered that they contributed positively patient supported nurses/midwives undertaking non-professional duties. However, maternity clients reported mostly giving direct care, their availability was perceived be better than qualified staff. Some reluctant assume responsibility for delegation duties assistants. Conclusion. The employment yields positive outcomes female but consideration must given role clarity. Further research into is important as such influence delegation, integration, development acceptance assistants.
