摘要: Digital technology such as computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacture (CAD/CAM) is rapidly expanding and transforming dentistry at an unprecedented pace. CAD/CAM in can be classified either “subtractive” or “additive” manufacturing methods. Subtractive method includes machining milling (CAM) laser ablation technologies, while additive 3D printing melting technologies. Different materials (polymers, metals, ceramics) equipment are commercially available for various dental applications custom trays, surgical guides, temporary definite fixed removable prostheses, orthodontic maxillofacial appliances. This chapter reviews the main systems including production processes, applications, equipment, advantages limitations of technology.
