摘要: The neuronal organization of the cerebral cortex human and other mammalian species, revealed by various histological techniques, has been largely documented (for review see Peters Jones, 1984; White, 1991). Two broad morphological categories neurons are found in cortex: pyramidal neurons, carrying efferent projections, non-pyramidal with a restricted local axonal arborization. Pyramidal further subdivided into distinct cell types characterized their dendritic arborizations laminar distribution. Afferents to can be divided two groups: thalamic afferents, extrathalamic afferents. former arborize mainly layer IV, over areas which they strongly influence modality response cortical neurons. In contrast, extra-thalamic afferents terminate wide cortex, patterns, thought modulatory function (Foote Morrison, 1987).
