摘要: Meningoencephalitis caused by Acanthamoeba spp . is a rare opportunistic infection, difficult to diagnose and treat, which causes death in almost all cases. We report the neuropathologic findings of 16-year-old girl with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) treated immunosuppression who died fulminant meningoencephalitis. Neuropathologic examination revealed multiple supratentorial infratentorial hemorrhagic necrotizing lesions encephalitis vasculitis mixed inflammatory infiltrates, fibrinoid necrosis vessel walls, local leptomeningitis. may be misinterpreted as macrophages. Taking them into differential diagnostic consideration, cytological differences should detected, relevant additional stains for reliable differentiation these cells can performed. To our knowledge, this first published case meningoencephalitis patient SLE Germany.
