摘要: Data from a multiethnic sample of women participating in the American Cancer Society 1987 Texas Breast Screening Project was used to compare attitudes and behaviors related breast cancer screening for whites, blacks, Hispanics. In general, similar patterns association were observed across racial/ethnic groups between number demographic risk factors prior mammography recent clinical examination (CBE), although magnitude associations varied somewhat groups. Reasons not having had also groups, with lack physician referral cost cited as two most important reasons. However, Hispanics less likely than blacks or whites report screening, including mammography, CBE, self-examination (BSE). This study demonstrated that different backgrounds can be successfully recruited participate patient-initiated, community-based program. this programmatic approach requires augmentation other intervention strategies designed reach low-income because more years education higher family income overrepresented all three
