摘要: Abstract Background & Aims: Although fat malabsorption in the short-bowel syndrome is caused part by decreased bile acid secretion, replacement therapy not used because of belief that ingested acids would worsen diarrhea, outweighing benefits improved absorption. This study compared effect a natural conjugated mixture from ox with cholylsarcosine, synthetic acid, on absorption and diarrhea patient syndrome. Cholylsarcosine resistant to bacterial metabolism has no cathartic activity. Methods: Metabolic balance studies clinical trial were performed an emaciated ileostomy whom parenteral nutrition could be used. Results: In studies, either preparation increase approximately 40 g/day. Calcium also increased. Neither product clinically significant water output. During 4-month outpatient trial, while 2 g/meal acids, her weight increased 80 98 lb, without side effects. Conclusions: Conjugated should armamentarium for treatment selected patients GASTROENTEROLOGY 1999;116:15-21
