摘要: Somatic chromosome number, detailed karyotype and genome size analysis were made to assess genetic diversity in ten drought resistant cultivars of Indian Taro (Colocasia esculenta var antiquorom Schott.). Karyotype revealed genotype specific chromosomal characteristics structural alterations chromosomes the genome, with variations ploidy from 2n = 2 × 28 (cv. Mothan, cv. Muktakeshi, Sree Kiran, Pallavi, Sunajhili) 3n 3 42 Banky, DP-25, Duradin, H-3, Telia). Highly significant genomic length, volume total form (TF) % noted at variety level. Total length varied 46.96 μm Kiran 100.49 Duradin. 18.22 μm3 Sunajhili 38.22 percentage was 24.94 39.04 H-3 confirming mostly near metacentric karyotype. Significant 4C DNA content among that ranged 7.24 pg 18.24 Duradin; accordingly, ~7,095 17,875 Mbp. High all triplod varieties x could be due presence extra set or high amount repetitive DNA. The variation cultivar level may attributed loss addition highly sequences genome. Detailed help breeders choose diverse parents for breeding programme along yielding susceptible future crop improvement programme.
