摘要: The authors used trans-synaptic tracing to examine and compare circuit anatomy in mouse barrel medial prefrontal cortex, revealing novel organizational features contrasts between the two areas. Notably, layer 5 neurons receive more long-distance inputs local inhibitory than cortex. Information processing neocortical circuits requires integrating over a wide range of spatial scales, from microcircuits long-range cortical subcortical connections. We rabies virus–based analyze laminar distribution pyramidal cortex (mPFC). In we found substantial 3 (L3) L6, prevalent translaminar inputs, L2/3 or L5/6 preferentially input areas, respectively. These layer-specific patterns were largely independent NMDA receptor function recipient neurons. mPFC L5 received proportionally L5. Our results provide new insight into organization development networks identify important differences sensory association cortices.
