Religio-Spiritual Participation in Two American Indian Populations

摘要: Following a previous investigation of religio-spiritual beliefs in American Indians, this article examined prevalence and correlates participation two tribes the Southwest Northern Plains (N = 3,084). Analysis suggested "religious profile" characterized by strong across three traditions: aboriginal, Christian, Native Church. However, sociodemographic variables that have reliably predicted general population, notably gender age, frequently failed to achieve significance multivariate analyses for each tradition. Religio-spiritual was strongly significantly related belief salience all traditions. Findings suggest religious may be unique among consistent with their distinctive profile. Results promise inform researchers' efforts understand theorize about behavior. They also provide tribal communities practical information might assist them harnessing social networks confront collective challenges through community-based participatory research collaborations.
