摘要: SUMMARY Thirty-one young female athletes and 13 age-matched sedentary controls were studied throughout one menstrual cycle or over a 6 week period. Blood was sampled on 5 days per week. Episodic gonadotrophin secretion measured in the early follicular phase late luteal by blood sampling 12-h period at 15-min intervals. Eight had anovulatory cycles, nine impaired progesterone (P4) during 14 normal cycles as judged from oestradiol (E2) P4 plasma levels. Athletes with shorter lower E2 maxima midcycle, concentrations than controls. luteinizing hormone (LH) significantly athletes: average LH values 12 h number of episodes reduced. No significant changes seen follicle stimulating secretion.
