摘要: The “Odden” is a large sea ice feature that forms in the east Greenland Sea may protrude eastward to 5°E from main pack (at about 8°W) between 73° and 77°N. It generally at beginning of winter season can cover 300,000 km2. Throughout outer edge Odden advance retreat by several hundred kilometers on timescales few days weeks. Satellite passive microwave observations 1978 through 1995 provide continuous record spatial temporal variations this extremely dynamic phenomenon. Aircraft synthetic aperture radar, satellite microwave, ship show consists new types, rather than older types advected pack. 17-year shows both strong interannual intra-annual extent behavior. For example, 1983 was weak, 1984 did not occur, 1985 returned late season. An analysis area time series derived along with meteorological data International Arctic Buoy Program (IABP) determined forcing associated growth, maintenance, decay. key parameters are related rapid formation decay are, order importance, air temperature, wind speed, direction. Oceanographic must play an important role controlling formation, but it yet possible quantify because lack long-term oceanographic observations.
