摘要: Abstract The present research work explores biodiesel production from one of the novel non-edible feedstocks viz. Cyprinus carpio fish oil. Production this oil was successfully performed through base-catalyzed transesterification assisted by a co-solvent. Hexane and potassium hydroxide (KOH) were chosen as co-solvent catalyst, respectively. experimental parameters included in optimization process type co-solvent, concentration base methanol to molar ratio, hexane volume temperature time. maximum yield C. (98.55 ± 1.02% ∼ 97.24% w/w ester content) obtained at 0.60% KOH w/w, 5:1 1.5:1 50 °C reaction 30 min reaction. Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy thin layer chromatography used ensure conversion into biodiesel. properties within recommended standards prescribed ASTM D 6751 EN 14214. most remarkable features are flash point viscosity which close those petro diesel. Moreover, blends diesel complied with limits D7467 standards. Hence, is potential feedstock for production. Co-solvent found follow first order kinetics activation energy calculated be 32.46 kJ/mol. However, it concluded that use medium enhanced comparing produced via nonsolvent process.
