摘要: This paper summarizes the findings of learning needs assessment described in this issue. Limitations and strengths are discussed. The describes a national, multi-sectoral, multidisciplinary picture. Our respondents may over-represent those with an interest breastfeeding; if so, true picture be even more problematic than here. Major deficits were identified knowledge skills practitioners from all backgrounds sectors. Many professionals report poor about breastfeeding have low levels confidence clinical competence. Organizational constraints barriers to effective education practice include fragmentation care education, lack facilities, priority being given breastfeeding. There is range current educational provision, although not fit for purpose. Voluntary organizations seem higher standards do some professional opportunities. Preferred methods training practical observation mentorship, volunteer counsellor involvement programmes, as well self-study online Recommendations include: funded, mandatory, interagency approach; appropriate content; support at local national levels; included governance audit mechanisms; further research evaluation examine optimum ways providing training. could addressed through public health policy evidence-based approach.
