Pharmacological studies on antidiarrheal effects of a preparation containing Berberine and Geranii Herba.

摘要: We studied the effects of a preparation containing Berberine and Geranii Herba (BGH) on different diarrheal models mice contractions isolated guinea pig intestinal smooth muscle, comparing these with those creosote (CSG) loperamide (LP). BGH, as well CSG LP, significantly inhibited diarrhea induced by castor oil or BaCl2, but not pilocarpine serotonin. BGH ACh-, Ba(2+)- electrical stimulation (ES)-induced contraction ileum colon at concentrations from 10(-6) to 10(-4) g/ml. On other hand, inhibitory effect ES-induced was about one hundred times stronger than that ACh- Ba(2+)-induced contraction. The order potency LP in this test ES > Ba2+ ACh, showed inhibition against colon. These results suggest exerts its antidiarrheal action inhibiting movement, mechanism may differ LP.
