摘要: • Nineteen patients with fungal splenic abscesses included 16 leukemia, one drug user, patient Cushing's syndrome, and without predisposing causes. Fifteen had persistent fever; six esophageal or mucocutaneous candidiasis. Abdominal pain occurred in seven patients, splenomegaly six, left abdominal mass one. Three chest x-ray films showed pleural effusions; two elevated hemidiaphragms, left-sided infiltrates, was normal. Sixteen of 17 technetium Tc 99m sulfur colloid scans were abnormal, as 15 gallium citrate Ga 67 scans. Two computed tomographic studies revealed defects.Candidawas the cause cases,Aspergilluswas three cases, andBlastomyces dermatitidiswas In case. underwent splenectomy, 12 receiving postoperative antifungal therapy. survived regardless underlying disease hepatic microabscesses.
