摘要: Since a perfect ‘drop in’ fuel that mimics conventional aviation kerosene without the need for blending is unlikely to be developed in near future, this chapter considers range of additives available modify biofuels meet rigorous specifications. Approved and their mechanism action are considered here against short-fall biofuels. For example, oxygenated fuels contain higher water content compared kerosenes; system icing inhibitors, biocides, corrosion inhibitors could mitigate detrimental effects created by presence water. Hydroprocessed alternative would benefit from antioxidants lubricity improvers. Potential addressing seal swelling capabilities, soot formation, also explored. Additives can cost effective way improve order allow use blends aviation; particularly approach given number concerned mandatory severely hydroprocessed fuels.
