摘要: Tensile specimens of 9Cr-1Mo steel weresubjected to oxidation in air at a temperature 973 Kfor periods 25, 47, 70, 97, 120, and 140 hr. Theintegrity the oxide scale was examined by an in-situ technique which involved recording theacoustic-emission activity associated with breakingof scale. Specimens were also subjected oxidationfor same times after subjecting them external stress 40 MPa. The applicationof found alter integrityof Spalling occurred lesserextent when applied due partial release growth stresses becauseof elongation specimen. buckledbefore spalling no applied. Onthe other hand, developed wedge-type cracks before toexternal during oxidation. Postoxidationexamination stressed specimen revealedsubstantial segregation silicon chromium thegrain boundaries (oxide ridges). specimens, wereoxidized without stress, revealed reductionin concentration on surface. Thisbehavior attributed enhanced case latter compared theformer.
