摘要: The propatagium of gliding and flying mammals is both functional phylogenetic interest. innervation the propatagial muscle, platysma II, was studied with axonal tracer wheat germ agglutinin-conjugated horseradish peroxidase (WGA-HRP) in a squirrel, Glaucomys volans. Injections WGA-HRP into proximal third II labeled motoneurons lateral part medial subdivision ipsilateral facial nucleus ventral horn brachial enlargement. distal regions spinal segments C5-C8 but not nucleus. along whole length muscle afferent axons dorsal C4-T1. These results demonstrate mixed motor musculature squirrel indicate that this pattern more widespread among than previously reported. Mixed cervical innervation, independently derived different mammals, may represent common solution design propatagium. findings complicate use patterns for establishment relationships mammals.
