摘要: Dual-language immersion programs have received a great deal of attention from parents, researchers, and policymakers. The supporters dual-language see the promise providing first-language instruction for children with non-English-speaking backgrounds, while simultaneously offering monolingual access to non-English languages. In this article, Guadalupe Valdes concentrates on possible negative effects movement. After reviewing literature success failure Mexican-origin children, author raises difficult questions surrounding use in education language-minority students. Among issues raised are quality minority language, dual intergroup relations, and, ultimately, how fit into relationship between language power that may affect society.
