摘要: Stroke is the leading cause of morbidity in Western world and second highest death aged population; yet a recent review, Grosset [1] concluded that “there current bleak picture which there are no proven treatments for ischemic stroke or intracerebral hemorrhage.” Furthermore, some initially hopeful potential therapies, such as nimodipine, have to be relatively ineffective clinic although drug an extremely effective agent against vasospasm [1–4]. In this article, we propose define why therapies failed still hope new therapies. We do not review pathophysiology has been amply documented elsewhere [2 3] but merely point out central core lesion must rapidly reperfused (in less than 3 hours) if any form recovery function obtained penumbra region primary goal will to: 1) restore blood flow by either reperfusion on improving collateralization (which high man compared with other animal species frequently used experimentation), and 2) reduce cell damage, may mediated excessive glutamate release Ca2+entry following waves depolarization.
