摘要: In this study, we apply vertical angle count sampling to estimate the crown ratio of trees in unthinned forest stands. The rationale is be able quickly assess relative size stands support thinning decisions by simply counting trees. We provide estimators and discuss their precision based on pilot studies Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) plantations northern Sweden. A separate study was conducted investigate amount measurement errors, i.e., how many are wrongly selected or overlooked when using method. Sampling errors for estimating were found remarkably low, partly due high correlation between length tree height low variability sites. Measurement range what commonly obtained with horizontal basal area estimation.
