摘要: Two pedotransfer function (PTF) approaches can be used for obtaining the analytical expression of whole retention curve: (i) soil basic data is to estimate water at specific potentials; and then an curve fitted estimated moisture values; (ii) estimating parameters curves. The objective this study was compare performance both techniques using representing main Brazilian soils. First, we derived PTFs van Genuchten equation contents -6, -10, -33, -100, -1500 kPa same development set. Second, compared validation approach, based on estimation potentials, provided better results: set, technique showed average root mean squared error 0.036 m 3 -3 , with averaged 0.098 direct parameters. A possible explanation result might related fact that controlled by different independent variables ranges potential, those differences are not directly
