The Mediating Effects of Student Engagement on the Relationships Between Academic Disciplines and Learning Outcomes: An Extension of Holland’s Theory

摘要: This research examined the relationships among students’ academic majors, levels of engagement, and learning outcomes within context Holland’s person–environment theory vocational educational behavior. The study focused on role student engagement as a mediating agent in between majors learning. Drawing data from stratified random sample 20,000 seniors who participated 2008 National Survey Student Engagement, results revealed that were significantly related to outcomes. was also Students’ generally not indirectly through engagement. An important exception this result found for students Enterprising environments where indirect disciplines positive, statistically significant, substantially larger than direct relationship.
