摘要: Understanding the Relationship between Interscholastic Sports Participation and Labor Market Outcomes: as Cultural Capital Matthew Linford Department of Sociology Master Science This research explores effects playing interscholastic sports on labor market income in United States for males (n=5782) females (n=6266) who participated National Education Longitudinal Study 1988. Previous has explored human capital social positive life outcomes athletes, but little looked into possible cultural advantages gained through participation. Using multiple regression analysis controlling capital, I examine whether participation operate capital. Results indicate that after net controls relationship remains significant play culturally popular sport basketball. also those male student athletes (football, basketball, or baseball) report more six years high school graduation than their counterparts a less sport. article provides evidence theory is useful tool exploring income.
