摘要: Purpose To investigate the relationship between retinitis pigmentosa (RP) progression and visual contribution to posture stabilization; examine extent which visual-field diameter affects stabilization. Methods Posture information was recorded in 35 subjects with well-characterized RP 20 normal vision. Data were collected as each subject stood a dark environment viewed stationary display. In both conditions, somatosensory feedback concurrently altered. also on 10 additional vision wearing field-restricting goggles (visual-field diameters ranged from 26.5 down 6 degrees). Results is accompanied by steady decrease of stabilization posture, values at onset disease absence and, eventually, destabilization posture. Decreasing field resulted linear However, comparable loss showed significantly lower than artificially restricted fields. Moreover, fields small degrees failed show Conclusions Most likely, reduction shown RP, well destabilizing effect manifest late stages caused anomalous processing remaining field.
