摘要: Peptides and proteins with antimicrobial activity are produced throughout all kingdoms in nature, from prokaryotes to lower higher eukaryotes, including fungi, plants, invertebrates vertebrates. These contribute an important constitutive or induced defense mechanism of the producer against microorganisms. According their variety structure function, these classified arbitrarily into groups that based on action, similarity other known proteins. The present review focuses a new group proteins, namely small, basic cysteine-rich antifungal which secreted filamentous fungi Ascomycetes. encoded by orthologous genes exhibit both similarities differences concerning species-specificity, primary structure, protein target sites. properties possible mode action potential application for human benefits discussed comparison already well
