摘要: Public enterprises in Ireland were offshoots of political nationalism. They part a protectionist economic policy and 1980 employed over 90,000 staff total national employment figure 1.1m. opinion moved away from public because perceived high costs to both consumers taxpayers. In the Celtic Tiger era since 1987 share has fallen by almost two-thirds 2.7 percent. experienced major increases GNP per head adopting open economy policies securing large exports foreign direct investment. No privatised enterprise been re-nationalised. It is retain network infrastructure such as electricity gas grids ownership while selling state companies areas food, banking, telecoms, shipping.
