摘要: Leptomeningitis due to type bHaemophilus influenzae can be produced in infant rats (up three weeks of age) by intranasal inoculation, and animals up months age intraperitoneal inoculation. In animals, the pathogenesis appears mimic disease human infants. Immunologic experiments indicate that antibody directed against b capsule (actively or passively acquired) will protect bacteremia (by any route inoculation) subsequent development meningitis. However, other surface structures ofH. (alone with anticapsular antibody) sustained after Evaluation antibiotic activity this infection is unreliable a marked age-dependent increase clearance. A means mimicking pharmacokinetics proposed. The rat model useful for study meningitis provided certain limitations are recognized.
