摘要: Abstract Purpose Early criminological research has found that the frequency of crime is not consistent throughout year and often peaks in summer months. What gone largely understudied, however, how respective spatial patterns are impacted over time. This study investigates whether seasonal variation exists temporally across different property types these same offences possess micro-spatial vary substantially calendar year. Methods A series Andresen’s (2009) point pattern tests were employed using police report data to examine two Canadian cities with differing climates, namely Vancouver, BC Ottawa, ON. Results Overall, results suggest that: (a) crimes exhibit distinct temporal humid continental climates (i.e. Ottawa) temperate ones Vancouver); (b) regardless climate, remain relatively constant Conclusions The findings indicate both components seasonality should be considered whenever possible order better understand when where implement prevention programs.
