Methods for documenting systematic review searches: a discussion of common issues.

摘要: Introduction: As standardized reporting requirements for systematic reviews are being adopted more widely, review authors under greater pressure to accurately record their search process. With careful planning, documentation fulfill PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) can become a valuable tool organizing literature planning updates. Methods: A working group of information specialists convened discuss current practice were informed by web-based survey over 260 authors, trials coordinators, librarians other conducted in February/March 2011. Discussion: Survey responses provided insight into practices difficulties searches. These included lack time, tools, clear understanding therequirements, uncertainty about responsibility documenting these elements. This paper will present some the practical aspects search. Section 1 provides background rationale this paper. 2 discusses issues recommendations arising from results. 3 outlines specific elements be recorded. 4 guides reader through management 5 concludes with implications future research practice. principles applicable any large reviews, health technology assessments guideline development.
