摘要: Cognitive impairment is commonly associated with the pain experience. This represents a major obstacle to daily activities and rehabilitation, especially in chronic population. Here we review clinical preclinical studies that have investigated pain-related alterations cognition. These include impaired attentional, executive general cognitive functioning. We describe anatomical, neurochemical molecular substrates common both processing supraspinal processing, present evidence for their involvement impairment. also examine added complexity of caused by analgesic medications how this can further impact on morbidity patients. The need better understanding mechanisms pain-induced treatment-related highlighted. Further research area will aid our patient symptoms underlying pathophysiology, ultimately leading increased provision guided therapy.
