The effect of pain on cognitive function: a review of clinical and preclinical research.

摘要: Cognitive impairment is commonly associated with the pain experience. This represents a major obstacle to daily activities and rehabilitation, especially in chronic population. Here we review clinical preclinical studies that have investigated pain-related alterations cognition. These include impaired attentional, executive general cognitive functioning. We describe anatomical, neurochemical molecular substrates common both processing supraspinal processing, present evidence for their involvement impairment. also examine added complexity of caused by analgesic medications how this can further impact on morbidity patients.
