摘要: The inhibitory effect of bovine lactoferrin (BLf) saturated with ferric, manganese or zinc ions, on the infection Vero cells by human herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV1) and 2 (HSV2) was investigated. Viral infectivity determined intracellular antigen synthesis plaque formation efficiently inhibited metal lactoferrins in a dose-dependent manner. Effective BLf concentrations which reduced 50% ranged from 5.2 to 31 mug ml were far below cytotoxicity threshold. Fe Mn exhibited selectivity indexes higher than Zn apoBLf for both viruses mainly directed towards early steps infection. slight viral inhibition shown citrate complexes different metals could indicate that antiviral not significantly influenced , ions delivered into cells. © Rapid Science 1998
