摘要: As a first step to investigate the structure-function relationship of bothropstoxin-I (BthTX-I), myotoxin from Bothrops jararacussu snake venom, our group previously cloned recombinant toxin (rBthTX-I) in Escherichia coli. The aim this work was characterize biological activities rBthTX-I (1.0 microM) both phrenic-diaphragm and extensor digitorum longus preparations vitro, by means myographic morphologic techniques. Native BthTX-I used as standard. influence heparin (27.5 microg/ml) upon toxins also investigated. had similar effects native inducing blockage directly indirectly evoked contractions preparations, muscle damage characterized edema, round fibers, cell areas devoid myofibrils. Interestingly paralyzing activity slightly more potent than toxin. Heparin prevented myotoxic toxins. This shows that expressed fully active form, presents profile
