摘要: Although questioned for a long time, accumulating evidence now strongly supports the presence of apoptotic processes in lower eukaryotes. Especially fungi, both yeasts and filamentous more examples an cell death programme emerged during past decade. This work revealed that, although fungal apoptosis shares significant similarity with mammalian apoptosis, mechanistic details involved regulation execution are different. Here we summarise current knowledge about fungi focus on comprehensive description evaluation role development ageing. Specific emphasis is laid impact host--pathogen interactions, sexual lifespan control. In addition, evaluate differences between apoptosis.
