摘要: Drug addiction is a pathophysiological disorder characterized by the progression of acute drug use into patterns chronic abuse associated with craving and seeking behavior as well increasing risk for relapse in during attempts at withdrawal. Drugs include wide variety substances diverse structure, pharmacology, toxicology, long-term clinical sequelae but common target brain reward centers. The authors discuss drugs within each major classes abused from perspectives history drug’s chemical properties, mechanisms action including selective receptor interactions, pharmacokinetics distribution-metabolism-elimination, toxicology these drugs. reviewed two most commonly used substances, ethanol tobacco, stimulants, opiates, cannabinoids, hallucinogens, barbiturates, benzodiazepines.
