Pseudomyxoma peritonei: a review of current literature.

摘要: Pseudomyxoma peritonei is an unusual condition more common in females, which massive amounts of mucinous ascites conjunction with peritoneal and omental implants occur. We performed a MEDLINE search the English-language literature from 1966 to June 2000, utilizing key words pseudomyxoma peritonei. All case reports, series studies regarding this were reviewed. Cross-referencing was also performed. The etiology treatment are currently controversial. Most investigators agree that surgical debulking appendectomy adequate initial therapeutic measures. role intraperitoneal chemotherapy, radiotherapy or application mucolytic therapy remains uncertain. Recent molecular genetic suggest appendix as organ primary origin disease.
