摘要: BACKGROUND: For many years, burns were treated by daily saline-soaked dressings until the healed primarily. Today, wounds are closed via grafting techniques, or using synthetic and biological dressings. Due to less experience interest in use of dressing developing countries, aim this study was compare outcome versus 'conventional' treatment patients with massive burns. METHODS: One hundred eighteen total body surface area (TBSA) 30% 75%, flame scalds, investigated from October 2002 June 2006. The divided into two groups. Those first group received conventional (n=53) those second (n=65) a (Xenoderm). RESULTS: Mortality rates 19 (35%) 7 (10.8%), respectively (p=0.001). mean hospital stay 31.3 days vs 18.2 number 22.1 9.9, (p=0.0005). CONCLUSION: results indicate that (Xenoderm) gave better lower mortality. However, randomized clinical trial compares operations decreasing need for split thickness skin grafts is warranted.
