摘要: Previous research has shown that people use linguistic distributional information during conceptual processing, and it is especially useful for shallow tasks rapid responding. Using two combination tasks, we showed this shortcut extends to the processing of novel stimuli, used in both successful unsuccessful evident deep tasks. Specifically, as predicted by ECCo theory combination, a “quick-and-dirty” guide whether concepts are likely combine into coherent representation, sensibility judgment interpretation generation Linguistic frequency predicts likelihood time course rejecting word compound nonsensical or uninterpretable. However, only judgment, because deeper process does not allow suffice. Furthermore, effects independent any conventional frequency. We discuss utility cognitive triage mechanism can optimize limited-resource system.
