摘要: Parosmia is a common olfactory disorder. In this condition, odors are perceived in different quality than usual. This distorted percept typically reported to be unpleasant. Little known about the pathophysiology of phenomenon. Previous studies demonstrated smaller volumes bulbs patients with parosmia compared subjects without parosmia. order investigate structural brain alterations areas beyond bulb, current study voxel-based morphometry was applied. A group 22 parosmic control matched for age- and sex, who exhibited similar performance tests. Performing whole analysis, we found profound gray matter volume loss left anterior insula patients. an additional interest analysis including primary secondary areas, also right insula, cingulate cortex, hippocampus bilaterally, medial orbitofrontal cortex. Many these critically involved discrimination odor memory. The present results indicate that reduced regions supporting memory related disturbed sensation
