Oxidation Behavior of a Sputtered Ni-5Cr-5Al Nanocrystalline Coating

摘要: A NiO-forming Ni–5Cr–5Al (at.%) alloy has been developed anddeposited as a sputtered nanocrystalline coating. The oxide formation andoxidation behavior of this coating have studied at 1000°C inair. oxidation rate markedly decreased with time and the oxidationkinetics obeyed fourth power law. Complex scales, consisting ofNiO, NiAl2O4 α-Al2O3,were formed during 200 hr oxidation. outer layer consisted NiOand an inner ofα-Al2O3. Ni–5Cr–5Alnanocrystalline showed good resistance due to theformation α-Al2O3 andexcellent adhesion complex scales.
